You must earn at least NZD $35.00 an hour (the 2025 median wage) when you apply for a resident visa.
What you need to qualify
For 24 out of the 30 months before you apply, you must have been paid at least the median wage. You can use the median wage rate in place at the start of your 24 months, which may be different to the current median wage. You may need to meet a different rate if you change job or your pay decreases.
You need registration with the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand, and either a provisional or full practising certificate issued by the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand.
