Wintec, Waikato Institute of Technology
Wintec publishes some of the lowest master’s tuition in New Zealand: NZ$24,600 a year for the Master of Applied Management, against NZ$45,900 to NZ$55,485 at the universities. It is an institute of technology rather than a university, which changes nothing about the post-study work visa, and its master’s degrees are taught rather than thesis based.
Why study here
Roughly half the university fee
NZ$24,600 a year for the Master of Applied Management, and NZ$27,467 for the Master of Applied Information Technology. Insurance, a health and counselling levy and a student services levy are charged on top.
Four intakes a year
The Master of Applied Management starts in February, April, July and September. The universities run two intakes a year.
Same visa outcome
A level 9 master's from Wintec is a degree at level 9, so it carries the same post-study work visa entitlement as a university master's.
